Tiny URL

Every Web page you can visit on Internet has a URL that is associated with it. In most cases, the links are difficult to understand, long, and a pain to re-type if you ever wanted to do so. Even with the use of the more popular method of copying a URL (that means, copying a URL onto your computer’s clipboard and pasting into an e-mail to an individual or group), the best intentions can go wrong when the URL is so long that it is completely impossible to fit onto a single line of text, wrapping around to the next line. When this happens, the URL will not work.

But there is a cure for those long URLs. It is called TINY URL and it is a way to shorten long URLs into manageable and short one. And since the URL is shorter it is also easier to copy and paste.

Here is how it works:

  1. Let’s say your URL is too long, such as this one: http://www.canofthoughts.com/2008/04/supercharge-your- technorati-favorites.html

  2. All you have to do in order to solve this problem is visit Tiny URL, paste the URL and manually generate your new one.

  3. Your previously long URL now may look like this one: http://alias.wanweb.net/wanweb, which means that it has been shortened from 79 characters to 20 characters.
